Recommended Vaccines for the Dominican Republic

✅ All Travellers

  • Hepatitis A — High risk throughout the DR, including deluxe resorts.
  • COVID-19, Influenza, MMR, Routine vaccines — Ensure all are current.

⚠️ Most Travellers

  • Typhoid Fever — Recommended for travellers eating outside resort settings or visiting rural areas.
  • Cholera (Dukoral) — Risk exists. Recommended for higher-risk travellers, especially near the Haitian border.
  • Hepatitis B — Recommended for adventure travellers and long-stay visitors.
  • Dengue — Significant risk year-round. No dengue vaccine is currently available in Canada — bite prevention is essential.

  • Rabies — Recommended for travellers to rural areas.
